Gopala Campu Prabhu, deriving divine inspiration from Vaisesika Prabhu, came up with the idea of gift packs – sets of books neatly wrapped to look like a Christmas present. Although we were initially skeptical of distributing the sets, we were amazed to see people taking them with joy and giving us $10, $20 sometimes even $30 for a set. Suddenly our scores were climbing high and with renewed enthusiasm we set our eyes on offering 6000 books for Srila Prabhupada’s pleasure. To ensure we distribute as many books as possible, we sought sponsors for distributing Gitas, and also attempted to distribute as many Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya Caritamrta, and Prabhupada Lilamrta sets as possible. There were few days when we managed to do more than 300 books! On the last day of the marathon, Mahotsaha Prabhu and myself set up a book table at a Hanuman temple in Glen Oaks and managed to distribute more than 200 books, mostly Bhagavad-gitas.

       With the blessings of the Vaisnavas, the humble book distributors of the NYC Harinam managed to distribute 6,393 books during the month of December, the highest ever in New York City since 1989. I humbly request you to also take part in this sankirtan revolution by helping the NYC Harinam in whatever way you can – come and sing our daily harinam as regularly as you can, distribute books with us, support us financially by becoming a monthly donor or sponsor some books for distribution. Let us together immerse New York City and eventually the whole world in a flood of Krsna consciousness.
